What’s New for the 2026 Defender: Key Upgrades & Changes for Florida Buyers

The 2026 Defender: Changes, Upgrades, and New Features

With its off-road chops and luxurious interior features, the Defender has been a popular choice with Florida drivers for decades. It’s available in two-door and four-door body styles, three wheelbase lengths, and several engine options, providing plenty of versatility for every lifestyle. While many SUVs have either luxury or capability, the Defender has both, without compromising on either one, and you can find this exceptional SUV at Land Rover Ocala near The Villages, Gainesville, and Ocala.

Let’s take a deep dive into what’s new in the 2026 Defender for Florida drivers.

What’s New with the 2026 Defender?

While Land Rover has been relatively quiet about updates for models in the United States, the automaker has been vocal about changes to the European models. In the past, when Land Rover changed the European models, the U.S. models received similar updates.

Exterior changes for the 2026 Defender include:

  • New front and rear bumpers
  • Textured hood inserts and side vents
  • Restyled headlights and grille bar
  • New exterior paint color options
  • New 22-inch wheel design

Land Rover isn’t ignoring the interior and technology. Drivers can expect to see these changes for the 2026 Defender:

  • A new 13.1-inch infotainment screen
  • Repositioned gear shifter
  • New center console layout
  • A new Driver-Attention Alert noise alert
  • New Adaptive Cruise Control for the off-road system

The 2026 Defender will still be offered in several trim levels and as the 90, 110, 130, and OCTA models. The engine options haven’t changed, so drivers can still rely on the exceptional powertrains that are ready to tackle pavement and trails with ease.

How Can Florida Drivers Configure the 2026 Defender?

Land Rover offers the Defender in four well-equipped configurations. The entry-level model is the Defender 110 S with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 296 horsepower. This model comes with four doors and all-wheel drive. The Defender 110 is also available with other engine options. The Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE is available with a 3.0-liter V6 and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The 3.0-liter engine is standard in the Defender 110 X and Trophy Edition. Drivers who choose the 3.0-liter V6 can add turbocharging, supercharging, or a 48-volt hybrid system for extra horsepower and fuel efficiency.

In all trims and engine options, the Defender 110 has up to 78.8 cubic feet of cargo space, seating for up to seven, a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds, and up to 518 horsepower.

The Defender 130 is the next configuration. The Defender 130 X, X-Dynamic SE, and X trims all come with the 3.0-liter V6 with 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Land Rover also offers the Defender 130 V8 with the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 493 horsepower. The larger Defender 130 has seating for up to eight passengers and has up to 89 cubic feet of cargo space.

Drivers who want a two-door Defender can choose the two-door Defender 90. This model is only available with the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 518 horsepower. The two-door Defender 90 seats five, has 58.3 cubic feet of cargo space, and can tow up to 8,200 pounds.

The pinnacle of the Defender lineup is the Defender Octa. It has four doors and seating for five, removing the third-row option from the Defender 110 and Defender 130. Drivers can choose the Defender Octa and the Octa Black. Both have a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 with 626 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 130 MPH. Both models can tow 8,200 pounds.

What’s Happening in the Defender Cabin for 2026?

The upscale and rugged Defender has impressive interior features that showcase the British brand. On the inside, drivers will notice the rugged exposed rivets and magnesium accent bar that runs across the dash. A unique feature in some Defender models involves the center console, which can be flipped to the second row to become an extra seat.

The 13.1-inch infotainment screen sits atop the dash so drivers can access the HVAC controls below it. This infotainment system runs the award-winning Pivi Pro platform that has speedy responses and over-the-air updates. Drivers get Apple CarPlay® and Android™ Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six speakers. In top trims and some optional packages, drivers can add a Meridian sound system with 10 or 14 speakers.

What Safety Features are Standard in the 2026 Defender?

The spacious, sporty, and luxurious Defender comes standard with a suite of safety tech. Standard driver-assistance features include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Off-Road Tech, Lane-Keep Assist, Lane- Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, a Surround-View Camera System, Vehicle-Exit Warning, Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers, and Driver-Attention Monitoring.
